Having a plan is very important to the success of any business, and the Internet is no different. The problem though is that most people, are always telling you need to buy this product or that product and it can get very expensive, very fast.

The plan below is not like that, you will eventually want to spend money on your business, but it is always better if your business pays for it rather than you.

1) Join SFI, which stands for "Strong Future International". SFI is a division of a company called Carson Services, which was founded in 1985. SFI itself has been around since 1998 and is thought to be one of the largest affiliate networks in the world, with tens of thousands of affiliates in over 200 countries worldwide. There are a number of different ways to make money from SFI:

a) Promote SFI Products and receive commissions - SFI has hundreds of products including vitamins, cleaning products, magazines, books, memberships to the International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs (IAHBE), domain name registration, pet care products, coffee and tea.

b) Promote the SFI opportunity and receive a percentage of commissions from sales generated by people in your downline.

c) Promote Triple Clicks, a website that sells all sorts of products and services. You can sell your own stuff on this website and make money or you can refer other people to the site and make a commission if the purchase something.

d) Eye Earn is also a part of SFI, where you are paid to advertise on your vehicle, T-shirt or coffee mugs. There is a fee for the promotional products, and I recommend waiting until you have an income from SFI, then re-invest to promote Eye earn.

SFI is a good place to start an online business as it provides a lot of good training and there are many possibilities for you to generate an income. It's also free, so you've got nothing to lose if you change your mind!

2) Join Blogger which is a free blog service that Google offers. Although you will want to go to paid service eventually, this is a great way to start your business promotion. Blogging can be one of the most powerful tools to market your business. I try to post daily, go to Mark's Blog to see examples. I will usually use an article as a post, then re-arrange it for step 5. As a new business write about what you are learning and doing. As you gain knowledge and understanding you will find that your blogs will take on the voice of a seasoned Internet Marketer. A good free resource I have found is Easy Articles.

3) Join Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Idea Marketers, and Article Alley. Your goal is to write two articles a week and post them on the above sites. Ideally, you would like to have a different version for each site. The easiest way to do this is to write new Titles, a different introduction and conclusion, and rearrange the body(don't rewrite, just move around). The rule of thumb is to have 30% different for each article. Content Checkup is a free tool you can download to check this, after the page loads, you will find the free download in the right hand column.

4) Join Traffic Swarm a free traffic service.

5) Join Soaring for Traffic and Hit Safari two more free advertising services .

6) Join Warrior Forum, Home based business forum, Conquer your niche forum and 24 hour wealth forum. These are all free and are full of information on how to be successful on the Internet. It is where you will find help and guidance for free on building a business. Before making a post ensure you read the rules of the forum, set up a signature file in your profile (they will explain how - have this point back to your blog, not your SFI site.)

Please note: don't ask the best way to make money, it annoys a lot of people. Instead use the search tool and you will find a lot of previous posts that talk about it.

Also, make any replies relevant, there is a big problem with spammers,and these forums have excellent reputations, so if they feel a person is posting just to advertise they will be banned.

7) Google the search term free advertising, there are a lot of methods to advertise your business for free. Write an ad and use this method. It is a very competitive market with free ads, so don't expect a lot of sales, but each one does add up.

8) As soon as you can join a hosting company such as Host4Profit, you will eventually want to move away from all free web hosting such as blogger, because you do not have any real protection of people using your blog name and getting your customers.

One of the key elements of a successful website is traffic, to get traffic you want backlinks (these are links of your site on another persons site - article marketing is an excellent way to get these).

This is a great method to start an online business for no money, as you gain experience and an income, you will want to get involved in other programs. Remember the more streams of income you have the stronger your business will be, but instead of spending a lot of money up front, allow SFI to fund your next venture.
